Gran Canaria Scooter rental

A scooter suits a particular kind of Gran Canaria holiday: a base on the south coast and a lot of short trips along it, between beaches, harbours and the next resort. The hire shops sit in the southern resorts, renting small scooters and mopeds by the day or the week, and some also rent larger scooters and motorbikes.

Check the licence rules before you book: the category you need depends on the size of the machine, and the shop will ask to see your licence. A helmet is compulsory and should be included in the hire. The catch is the island itself: the mountain roads are long, steep and shared with coaches, and a motorway such as the GC-1 is no place for a small scooter, so keep the scooter for the coast and take a car or a tour inland.
