Gran Canaria Apartments

Apartments are the default on Gran Canaria for anything longer than a short break. The southern resorts are full of apartment and bungalow complexes, so a one or two bedroom unit around a shared pool, a walk from the beach, is the standard offer in Playa del Inglés, San Agustín and Maspalomas rather than a step down from a hotel. Puerto Rico is the extreme case: its apartment blocks are stepped up both slopes of the valley above the beach and the marina.

That shape brings the catch. In Puerto Rico and on the hillier parts of the coast, anything not on the valley floor is uphill, so check where a block sits on the slope, and whether there is a lift, before booking. Las Palmas has city apartments close to Las Canteras for a stay built around the capital. Confirm how the keys are handed over before you fly, particularly on a late arrival.
