Gran Canaria Nightlife
Nightlife in Gran Canaria
Resort bars and clubs along the south coast, and a later, more Spanish night out in the streets of Las Palmas.
There are two nightlife maps on Gran Canaria and they barely overlap. The south coast runs the visitor version: bars, terraces and clubs concentrated in the commercial centres of Playa del Inglés and along the Maspalomas and Meloneras fronts, with live music and cabaret, and a quieter bar trade at Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán.
Las Palmas runs the Spanish version. It starts late, moves between small bars rather than settling in one, and is at its liveliest at weekends, in the streets around Santa Catalina and Las Canteras and in the old quarters of Vegueta and Triana. For a night in the capital from the south, plan the way home before you go out: Playa del Inglés to Las Palmas is under fifty minutes by road, and nobody who has been drinking should be the one driving it.
